This study is supposed to be able to know deeply how the analysis of emoticon and sticker used in messaging via WhatsApp is. The method applied in this study was qualitative research design. The data were acquired from the text of “put respek on G’s” WhatsApp group and “e-house toefl discussion”. The research finding is about the existence of implicit meaning tried to transfer by the users, however the implicit meaning is well-understood in order the receivers understand well about the meaning of the communication. All of the samples are able to reveal the implicit meaning involved in emoticon and sticker in WhatsApp text, therefore, it minimizes the misunderstanding of a communication. The data showed that the gender of emoticon and sticker users is both masculine and feminine. The emoticon and sticker use is also able to enrich the language features. Other than improving teaching techniques, they are supposed to enhance their assessment literacy. This is due to the findings of earlier studies on teacher assessment literacy indicating that many teachers are assessment illiterate. Language teachers should be assessment literate as it can help learners improve their language learning by being able to assess their students appropriately and effectively. To investigate language teacher assessment literacy, an instrument called language teacher literacy questionnaire needs to be developed. For this reason, the present study attempts to propose dimensions or indicators and proposition of the questionnaire for university language teachers. Having been developed, the indicators and the propositions were evaluated by 20 university language teachers who have at least five years of teaching experience of teaching a (foreign) language at the tertiary level. They provided feedback or comments on the proposed questionnaire then they were discussed in this research. Results of this study revealed that it was not an easy assignment to determine the indicators of the questionnaire and the construction of the propositions/items was timeconsuming.</p> <p>The feedback varied greatly starting from the statement ‘the items were good already’ to ‘complaining about the instruction of completing the questionnaire’. But the translation can be meaningless if the product is not accurate. Google translate is one media that has been used widely by people. Therefore, this research is aimed to check the accuracy of the Translation of English Verb Phrase into Indonesian Using Google Translate. This research used qualitative method to research the accuracy of the translation of English verb phrase into Indonesian using Google Translate. The main source of the data was the product of Google Translate. The source of the data was subtitle Movie of Alice in Wonderland. There were several techniques to collect the data, they were: 1). Downloading the subtitle Movie Alice in Wonderland and, 2). Making the data table for source text and target text. To analyze the data, the techniques were organizing, categorizing, identifying and classifying, analyzing, and making the conclusion. There were three translation categories, they were: Accurate, Less Accurate, and Inaccurate translation. The finding of this research showed from 60 data, there were 40 accurate translation, 11 less accurate translation, and 9 inaccurate translation. The first strategy is locating the messages and transferred them into TL. The second strategy is finding the closest equivalent in TL. The third strategy is re-expressing the meaning. There are four criterions in scoring students’ translation tasks. The first criterion is “translation as a science”. The second criterion is “translation as a craft”. The third criterion is “translation as an art”. The fourth criterion is “translation as a taste”. The participants of this research are twenty-four students from UHAMKA’s English Department in Jakarta, Indonesia. The methodology of the research is a qualitative research investigating the use of “Three Translation Strategies” in teaching translation using a lyric of a rock song to university students in Indonesia by analyzing several theories from numerous scholars. There are two findings obtained from this research. The first finding was obtained from a table calculating the score of students’ translation tasks. The second finding obtained from a figure in the form of diagram taken from an interview’s question is exposed in the form of percentages. The main points from the discussion in the findings are: First, students used the three translation strategies in translating a lyric of a rock song. To aid analysis, this paper applies methods of field research methods of linguistics and description so as to construct significative meaning structures of words expressing human body parts (HBPs) in the Thai language, thus identifying the semantemes chosen to be the basis for the transformation. As sources of data, this study surveys Thai rhymes, fairy tales, riddles, and riddle songs. As for linguistic data of daily speeches, the data used in the paper is limited within the Thai Den language in the city of Son La, Son La province. Basing on the survey, in the paper, the researcher focuses on studying the polysemy of words expressing HBPs in the upper part, the middle part, and the four limbs. The meaning transference of words expressing HBPs in the Thai language is deep and contains multilayers. In the Thai language, there are 21 scopes of semantic transformation. The polysemy of words expressing HBPs in the four limbs is not as abundant in semantic change as in the upper part. There are two problems of the research: (1) What are the conversation structures occurred in The SpongeBob on the Run Movie? (2) What is the dominant structure of conversation on several conversations of The SpongeBob on the Run Movie? The objectives of this research are to answer the problems as what have been mentioned in the previous point. They are (1) To describe the conversation structure occurred in The SpongeBob on the Run Movie, (2 To find out the most dominant structure of conversation analysis in several conversations in The SpongeBob on the Run Movie. This research was conducted by using the approach of conversation analysis (Sacks, Schegloff, &amp; Jefferson, 1978), with the transcribed conversation from movie of SpongeBob On the Run as the data. The data was analyzed using table of analysis, which consists of the transcribed data. There were conversations analyzed; and the findings shows that on movie occurred were: adjacency pairs (22%), turn-taking (61%), and repair (17%). The results of this research shows the possible variation of conversation structures occurred in conversation by the characters.
