Abstract

This study aims to discuss how to increase interest in learning social studies subjects for class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Sidikalang through Nearpod learning media for the 2021/2022 academic year. Nearpod is a platform or learning media that can be accessed for free using a website and can also be downloaded via the supporting Play Store on mobile phones (gadgets) and other technological devices, which aims to offer an interactive learning process experience between teachers and students online (online learning). This study is to determine whether or not there is an increase in interest in learning social studies for class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Sidikalang through the use of Nearpod learning media. This study uses a quantitative research method. There are experimental and control groups of 30 respondents in the experimental group and 30 respondents in the control group data collection techniques in this study are observation techniques, written tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive statistical analysis, prerequisite tests, and hypothesis testing, the results of this study prove that the use of Nearpod learning media has increased interest in learning social studies lessons, and the effectiveness of student learning after using Nearpod has increased.
