Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on the learning achievement of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year. This study is a type of descriptive quantitative research. The population of this research was students in class VIII IPS at SMP Negeri 2 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 346 students, while the sample used was 81 students. The analytical methods used in this research are the Data Normality Test, Simple Linear Regression Test, Coefficient of Determination Test, and Hypothesis Test. The result of the research showed that the independent variable namely self-efficacy contributed 26.4 to the dependent variable, and the remaining 73.6% was influenced by other variables and the partial hypothesis test (t) obtained a value based on SPSS calculations of 5.425 where tcount > ttable, namely 5.425 > 1.664 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there are positive and significant influences between self-efficacy on the learning achievement of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year.
