Abstract

Traffic volume on Marelan Raya street road has increased annually due to rapid regional development and population growth. To overcome traffic problems, an understanding of traffic characteristics and the relationship model between volum (Q), speed (V) and density (D) using the Greenshields mathematical method is required. Data surveys were conducted using the manual count method to collect traffic volum and speed data. The road section observed was a local road with a length of 100 meters and width of 9 meters (4,5 meters per lane) included in the 2/2 UD road type (2 lanes – 2 directions undevided). The results of the analysis using the Greenshields method showed a maximum volum (Qmax) of 2,625 smp/hour, free speed (Vf) of 31.75 km/hour, maximum density (Dj) of 330.73 smp/hour and a determinant coefficent (r2) of 0.851. This study provides a comprehensive overview of traffic characteristics on the Marelan Raya road section to support more effective traffic planning and management.
