Abstract

At this time the city of Medan as one the largest city in Indonesia where the growth of development is very rapid from year to year, one of the sectors that is experiencing growth is the transportation sector. As one of the human needs that currently supports the implementation of various activities, it results in increasingly congested traffic flow, hence the need for good facilities and infrastructure so that problems do not occur that cause congestion. One of the roads experiencing congestion is Halat Road Medan City due to parking on the shoulder of the road which greatly affects the performance of the road segment. This study was conducted to determince the effect of the presece of parking on the shoulder of this road and how the performance of the Halat Road section, so that it can be a future reference. This research was conducted for 3 (three) days in 2 (two) weeks, namely from Monday, Tuesday and Saturday by conducting a field survey. From the survey results, an analysis was carried out, it was found that the peak volume was 2.493 pcu hour with an average speed of 26.2 km hour and a correlation test was carried out between parking volume and traffic volume which had a value of 1.00 the degree of saturation is 0.47, it can be concluded that the service level of Halat Road is at level C.
