Abstract

Road pavement is part of the highway construction which is hardened with a certain layer of construction, which has a certain thickness, strength and stiffness as well as stability in order to be able to safely distribute the traffic load on it to the subgrade. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding beverage cans to Marshall properties, to obtain a Marshall Quontient target of 300 kg/mm, to determine the aggregate percent of beverage cans as a substitute for fine aggregate, so as to achieve the expected quality, and to see the characteristics of asphalt layer that thas been mixed with cans. The Marshall Quotient target is above 300 kg/mm on the test object that has been made. The characteristic value of asphalt concrete obtained is based on Marshall testing under conditions of Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC) without using waste for VMA value 19.613%, VIM value 4.51%, VFB value 77.089%, stability value 2794.875 kg, flow value 3 mm and Marshall Quotient 933.73 kg/mm. For the asphalt mixture plus cans the waste content used is 1%, 2%, and 3% of the weight of the fine aggregate. For value of KAO in the asphalt mixture added waste cannot be found because the VIM and VFB values do not meet the requirements.
