Abstract

In the construction of construction or roads, concrete is widely used in buildings because concrete has properties that are easy to shape as desired. The basic ingredients of concrete include cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate and water to form a solid mass. In accordance with the times, the number of used goods and various kinds of waste has not been used properly, one of which is coconut shell waste. Coconut shell is widely ontained in various places and can be processed in industrial factories such as mosquito repellent, charcoal into activated carbon and so on. In this study, coconut shell was used as a partial substitute for coarse aggregate in the concrete mixture. This study uses a laboratory experiment with a total of 48 samples. The variations of the coconut shell mixture used were 0%, 2.5%, 5% and 7.5%. The test includes a compressive strength test with a planned concrete quality of f'c = 25 MPa. From the results of the study, the compressive strength of normal concrete was 27,689 Mpa at the age of 28 days and each coconut shell variation of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% was 26,514 Mpa, 24,693 Mpa, 22,283 Mpa at the age of 28 days. the greater the variation of coconut shell in the concrete, the compressive strength of the concrete will decrease.
