Abstract

A retaining wall is a construkction that functiopns to retain loose or natural soil and prevent the collapse of sloping soil or slopes whose stability cannot be guaranteed by the slope of the soil itself. Retaining walls function to support the soil and prevent it from the danger of landslides. Either due to the load of rainwater, the weight of the soil itself or due to the load acting on it. Analysis of the stability of retaining wall construction in the construction of sheet piles, taluds, gabions in Simalungun District, namely to calculate the stability of retaining walls against shear forces, overtuning forces, soil bearing capacity and active and passive earth pressure acting on retaining walls using the Terzaghi method. The results of the manual calculation of the stability factor against the overturning force of the ground must be > 2, at point 2 (1.1561) (unsafe), at point 2 (2.36) (safe), at point 3 (0.5) (unsafe). Stability against shear must be > 2, at point 1 (4.49) (safe), at point 2 (0.52) (unsafe), at point 3 (2.56) (safe). Stability of soil bearing capacity must be > 3 (1.53)(unsafe), at point 2 (2.62) (unsafe), at point 3 (-0.05) (unsafe). This resulth is ineffective because if is not safe against the safe carrying capacity.
