Abstract

Concrete is a structure that is widely used in civil engineering construction. Good for building foundations, columns, poles and even for roads. Along with the development of the times, innovations have been made in the type of construction, one of which is the use of sea water as a concrete mixture. The high need for clean water in Indonesia causes a scarcity of clean water, this is exacerbated by the high use of water in concrete construction. To reduce water scarcity, innovation has been created to use seawater as a concrete mixture, especially in areas that are difficult to reach and this has been proven through research conducted in laborstories. From the research results, it was found that the compressive stregth value of normal concrete with 7 days of concrete curing was 17.58 MPa; normal concrete with 14 days of curing had a compressive strength of 15.22 MPa; normal concrete with 21 days of curing had a compressive strength 17.97 MPa and normal concrete with 28 days of curing had a compressive strength 19.24 MPa. The compressive strength of concrete using the sea water with 7 days of treatment is 17.58 MPa; with 14 days of treatment is 15.87 MPa; with 21 days of treatment is 18.57 MPa and with 28 days of treatment is 21.32 MPa. From the research results it can be concluded that the effect of mixing concrete using sea water and fresh water affects the compressive strength value of concrete where the compressive strength of sea water concrete has a greater compressive strength up to 28 days.
